How to read ModelArk artifact verification results

The fields, dual-node verification and most important limits behind a Seedance check.

What the official API actually does

ModelArk's artifact verification is an asynchronous, two-step query offered by the platform that serves Seedance. A verification task is created with a link to the media file; the service analyzes the file for technical characteristics associated with official generation, and the result is retrieved by polling until the task finishes — typically within one to two minutes. According to the official documentation, uploaded files are used only for the query and deleted from the provider's side within 24 hours, and results cover Seedance 2.0+ video models and Seedream 5.0+ image models generated within roughly the last 30 days.

Parallel Volcengine and BytePlus verification

The official API is offered from two endpoints: Volcengine in cn-beijing and BytePlus in ap-southeast-1. Every check on this site creates verification tasks on both at the same time, because each platform can enrich the result differently — in our testing, a video generated on the China platform was detected as True by both endpoints, but only the originating platform returned the full model name. The merge rule is conservative: a True from either node completes the check immediately; the site reports False only when both nodes successfully return False; incomplete or conflicting responses remain indeterminate rather than being rounded down to a False.

Key result fields

FieldMeaning
Statusrunning, succeeded or failed. Only a succeeded task carries a verdict — a failed task is not a "False."
IsOfficialTrue (official signals detected), False (no significant signals detected) or Null (unable to determine, usually because the file carries too little identifiable information).
ModelNameThe model name and version when available, such as doubao-seedance-2-0. May be empty even on a True result, depending on which platform generated the video.
ResourceTypeimage or video; this site accepts video. The field may be empty in practice.
ResolutionThe video resolution, such as 720p, when returned.
MessageThe official explanation, including the provider's own limitation statement — worth quoting verbatim in any review record.

The most important limit

IsOfficial=False means no significant official artifact signals were detected — nothing more. It does not rule out Seedance after editing, transcoding or platform compression, it says nothing about other AI models, and it cannot certify that a video is "real." Conversely, the official documentation describes matches as highly reliable, so a True result — especially with a model name — is strong evidence of Seedance origin. For a full review process around these results, see how to tell whether a video was generated by Seedance.

Automated analysis is for reference only and is not a forensic or legal determination.
