How it works

Check artifact signals, not just how the video looks

The workflow uses the official ModelArk verification APIs and preserves the uncertainty stated in the returned result.

01

Receive temporarily

The video is transferred to Cloudflare and given a random, short-lived retrieval URL.

03

Explain the result

The site shows the match status, model version, resolution, channel and official result message.

Understand the result

Three outcomes, clearly bounded

Automated verification supports review decisions. It is not a legal or forensic determination.

Official signals detected

Possibly generated by an official ModelArk model.

No significant signals

This does not rule out Seedance as a source.

Detection scope: the official API covers the Seedance model family only (Seedance 2.0+ videos, Seedream 5.0+ images) and verifies artifacts generated within roughly the last 30 days. It does not detect Sora, Kling, Runway or generic deepfakes, and re-encoding can remove the signals it relies on.

FAQ

Common questions

Short answers about formats, privacy, routing and accuracy.

How does the Seedance video detector work?

The site creates an official ModelArk artifact verification task, polls its result, and displays the official signal match, model name and resolution when available.

Does a negative result prove a video was not made with Seedance?

No. A negative result only means that no significant ModelArk artifact signals were detected. It does not rule out Seedance as a possible source.

Which formats are supported?

MP4, MOV and AVI files up to 100MB are supported.

Do I need to choose a verification region?

No. The system checks Volcengine and BytePlus in parallel and combines both official results automatically.

Are uploaded videos stored?

Videos are kept temporarily for verification and deleted when the task succeeds or fails.

Is this an official ByteDance tool?

No. Seedance Check is an independent third-party tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by ByteDance, Volcengine or BytePlus. It calls the publicly available official verification API.

Which AI models can it detect?

Only the Seedance family covered by the official ModelArk verification API (Seedance 2.0 and later video models, Seedream 5.0 and later image models). It cannot detect Sora, Kling, Runway, Veo or generic deepfakes — a negative result never means a video is not AI-generated.

How recent must the video be?

The official API verifies artifacts generated within roughly the last 30 days. Older videos, or videos that were re-encoded, cropped or heavily compressed, may fail to verify even if they were made with Seedance.
