Two different questions are often confused
Seedance artifact verification asks whether a file carries technical signals associated with an official ModelArk generation pipeline. It is a source-provenance question. It does not inspect every factual claim, identify the people shown or determine whether an event happened.
A real camera recording can be captioned falsely, edited out of context or presented with the wrong date. A generated video can also depict a harmless fictional scene. The production method and the truth of the message must be evaluated separately.
“Official Seedance signal detected” means generated-source evidence—not “the scene is real,” “the claim is true” or “the uploader is trustworthy.”
What a positive official match supports
A match supports the statement that the checked file contains official Seedance or ModelArk-related artifact signals. When model information is returned, you may also report the model name and resolution exactly as provided.
Use careful language such as “official artifact signals were detected in this copy.” Avoid stronger claims about intent, deception, authorship or legality unless you have separate evidence.
What a negative result cannot prove
A non-match does not certify that footage is camera-original. It may be an older Seedance output, a re-encoded Seedance video, content from a different AI model or ordinary edited footage. The official interface has a defined coverage window and model scope.
Negative results are therefore best described as “no supported official signal detected in this copy.” Continue with source tracing, reverse search, metadata review and visual continuity checks when the stakes are high.
A defensible authenticity workflow
Start with the narrowest claim the evidence can support. Record the original URL and uploader, preserve the highest-quality file, run provenance checks, then verify dates, locations, people and statements using independent sources.
- Provenance: what system likely produced this file?
- Integrity: was this copy cropped, edited or re-encoded?
- Context: where and when was it first published?
- Factuality: do independent sources support what it claims?
